Our studio has always been a place for families to get physically fit and more healthy together. From our Prenatal Yoga classes to our Fit Mamma Tower classes, from Mommy and Me Yoga to Pilates Stretch and Strengthen classes we have a panoply of options for the everyone. We believe it's never been more crucial to teach our kids that exercise can be fun and should be a part of everyone's healthy lifestyle. Since so many kids are now getting involved in group sports very early in life, our studio focuses specifically on enhancing the kids' flexibility and strength, both essential aspects of injury prevention.

Please read below about two programs we are particularly proud of - our Pilates Stretch and Strengthen Classes for Kids and our Mommy & Me Yoga Classes.

Questions and Answers With the Teacher

We asked the current teacher of this class to answer for us some questions we've gotten asked by the parents interested in enrolling their kids in this class.

  1. What is the class like?

The class starts off slow. Once we get past the first couple of weeks, I begin to allow the kids to demonstrate an exercise at the front of the class. This makes them start to really become aware of their positions and alignment because they want to do a good job while demonstrating. While one demonstrates, another will count so that the whole class remains involved at all times

  1. What do the kids like the best about each class?

I think the kids like demonstrating the best. They also like when they come in the next week and they've found more flexibility in a specific stretch than the week before.

  1. Why do you think this class is important for all kids, and especially athletes/dancers?

The class is important to all the children and especially athletes/dancers because I direct the kids in the class to just focus on their bodies. They gain insight into how their muscles feel while stretching, how to use the abdominals to support the body, and how to properly align the body for each individual so that they stretch correctly. The more aware the kids can be about the use of their bodies, the less injury-prone they will be.

  2. Is there something particular exciting from the class that sticks out in your mind?

As a teacher, I am proud of the fact that they achieve something new every week. Usually, someone will come running into the class and say, "I've been practicing, look I got lower in my split!" Every week is always rewarding because some new kind of connection is made.

  3. What changes have you seen in the children over the past ten sessions?

Over the past ten sessions the girls' flexibility has increased, they've become more aware of their alignment and body positions and how to stretch their bodies safely. They've also learned about their abdominals and their role in the body.
