Dear Client,
February is the National Heart Month and it is
a great time to make sure that we put our health and the health of our loved
ones first.
Exercise is a wonderful way to help
keep our hearts young and healthy, and our minds open and stimulated, all while
bonding with others. For me, February will always be close to my heart
because that is the month my daughter was born and one of the many ways I have
been able to connect with her is through exercise. We first made our
fitness connection in Prenatal Yoga classes, then strengthened it in "Mommy and
Me Yoga" and now that she is almost four, we've progressed to playing
movement-based games - fun and fitness for both of us! |
|
As we enter into
this heart-conscious month try to take a moment to breathe and focus on what
really matters in life: family, love, health and inner peace.
I encourage you to find the time to perhaps come
in and try a yoga class with your daughter, a tower class with your husband, or
schedule a duet with a friend. Most
importantly take the time to make your health be your first priority, because
without your health your ability to enjoy other wonderful aspects of life is
diminished.
We wish you and all our clients to have a heart healthy and happy
February! We look forward to seeing you in our studio
and having you enjoy all of the classes we have at Premier Pilates and Yoga.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
As we continue into with the
snowy winter months there are bound to be days when the weather turns so bad
that it might be unsafe for you or for our instructors to travel to the studio.
Simply call the studio at (908) 754 5901 and listen to the recorded message. Studio closings will be recorded on the machine. If you are registered for a class, mat or Tower, you will get an email notification that the class has been cancelled. You will not be responsible for a scheduled Tower/Private session if the studio is closed that day. At the same time, if there is only a light drizzle or a snow dusting outside and the studio is open, we do hope you will be able to make it. |

PILATES FOR BUFF BONES
® |
|
We are looking into adding Reformer classes to the schedule at the studio. For
those who are unfamiliar with the Reformer it is an absolutely amazing piece of
Pilates equipment that allows a full body Pilates workout done on one machine.
This class would be of interest to anyone
who's done a mat class or a Tower class and wanted to try yet another way of
challenging their bodies.

At this time, if someone wanted to
work out on the Reformer their only option would be to do a Private or a Duet
session, but that will soon change. We anticipate starting the Reformer classes
next month to round out the Pilates options for our clients at the studio.
If you are
interested in this class and want first crack at the new Pilates Reformer
classes, along with a special discount when we unveil them, please send us a
quick email.

Consider these facts:
-
Gender. Women get osteoporosis more often than men.
-
Age. The older you are, the greater your risk of
osteoporosis.
-
Body size. Small, thin women are at greater risk.
-
Ethnicity. White and Asian women are at highest risk. Black
and Hispanic women have a lower risk.
-
Family history. Osteoporosis tends to run in families
There are many steps you can take to help keep your bones healthy. To help keep
your bones strong and slow down bone loss, you can:
-
Eat a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D
-
Exercise - not all exercise is created equal
Pilates is uniquely suited to prevent osteoporosis - it
offers the specific types of movements that makes the bones stronger and less
prone to breaking under stress.
Deborah is a Pilates for Buff Bones®
licensed instructor and will be starting a new class/workshop geared to all
women and men at risk for osteoporosis!
If you are interested in the workshop please reach out to
us!
